HOW IT'S MADE

From the milking barn to your doorstep

How does it work?

At Candid, we recognize that one size does not fit all. Our service consultation process is designed to be as unique as your business.

Through in-depth analysis and collaborative strategy sessions, we ensure that the solutions proposed are precisely aligned with your goals, culture, and operational landscape.

Our commitment extends beyond strategy formulation; we're with you throughout the implementation and provide ongoing support to ensure continuous improvement and lasting impact on your business.

1. Early morning milking sessions...

Snow goes first because she's pushy like that. Every pearl, stone, and soak starts here.

2. Straight to the freeze-dryer...

Fresh goat milk gets lightly pasteurized and freeze-dried into shelf-stable powder without losing the lactic acid, vitamins, or fat your skin actually needs.

3. We mix, melt, and pour on the farm...

Small batches. Calendula from our fields and local honey for Milk & Honey. Persimmon tannins and cedarwood for Fresh Hooves.

4. Everything cures, sets, and gets sealed by hand...

Stones set overnight. Soaking Pearls get sealed at 40% humidity or below. Beauty Melts poured by hand. Every batch fits on one table.

5. Packed & shipped from our farm in Southern Illinois...

Your product has a zip code. Not a warehouse in a foreign country.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions and answers

Most goat milk brands buy powdered milk from a supplier and pour it into a mold. We milk our own herd on Bone + Bear Farm in Grantsburg, Illinois, then freeze-dry it ourselves. Same family, four generations. Every pearl, stone, and soak starts about 50 feet from where you'd pet the goats.

Goat milk has a pH of 6.4, which is close to your skin's own pH. That means it doesn't strip or fight your barrier the way most alkaline products do. We don't make medical claims, but we formulate for people whose skin throws a fit at everything else. Our Milk & Honey products use lavender, honey, and colloidal oatmeal (a recognized skin soother) alongside the goat milk base.

Spray-dried milk (the kind most brands use) gets blasted at 300°F. That destroys vitamins, enzymes, and proteins before the milk ever touches your skin. We freeze-dry at sub-zero temperatures under vacuum. The water leaves. The good stuff stays. No preservatives needed because bacteria can't grow without moisture.

After age 40, your body produces a compound called 2-nonenal. Regular soap can't touch it. Persimmon tannins bind to nonenal molecules and break them down at the molecular level. Joshua deeply studied and researched the Japanese kakishibu tradition and built the Fresh Hooves line around that science. Every Fresh Hooves product contains persimmon leaf tannins we have carefully sourced while our grove matures.

Everything ships shelf-stable. Freeze-drying removes the water, so our soaks, stones, powders, and steamers don't need refrigeration or rush shipping. We ship from Grantsburg, Illinois. Your product has a zip code.

Every product page on our store lists the full INCI ingredient list. We use goat milk from our own herd, estate-grown lavender, calendula, other botanicals, local honey, and ingredients you can pronounce. No parabens, no sulfates, no synthetic fragrance. We strive to grow on our farm, source locally when possible, and make everything by hand in small batches.
